Rita Vindedzis

Statement

I like to paint in my studio using my own photographs taken during family trips, inspirational drives and walks through the countryside, or our fabulous city. Much of my painting is about creating a feeling or an impression of a place rather than documenting it. Big skies and open fields, meandering streams, urban rooftops, the simple beauty of the everyday, these are a few of my favourite themes. Each painting is a soft focus moment in time. My paintings have been described as soothing, calming, peaceful and meditative. This makes me happy as I want the viewer to feel and enjoy the calm and serenity that I've painted. Although many would describe my work as traditional landscape I definitely feel it has a contemporary edge.

Rita's work has appeared in Style at Home Magazine, Canadian House and Home Magazine and on national television programs including CityLine, Design Inc. And Designer Guys, Divine Design, Canadian Idol, as well as in national television commercials for Heinze Canada, and in the Kilgour Estates model Home designed by Brian Gluckstein.
